In this span of time I’ve been in a theatre production, travelled half way around the world and back, been to a round 3 Vancouver Canucks playoff game, met a lot of new people, and learned even more, about even more, than all that.

Right now almost everything is captivating in quite a perplexing way.  So many things are surprising me, I could make an entire list.  As a matter of fact, I will make an entire list.

1.  There are only 19 days left of the school year.  As exciting as this is, it scares me to death just thinking about all the course work that still needs to be completed.  It actually makes me think that I should toss this list in the trash right now at get down to business.

2.  After this year, I only have one left.  I mean in school, not life, because it will be 2012.  Enough said.

3. My Vancouver Canucks have a shot at making it to the Stanley Cup Finals.  Canucks die hards across the continent understand how it has felt watch them come all this way,  The feeling is not much shy of pure ecstasy.  I also cannot believe my dad actually bought tickets, for himself, my sister and I, to game 2 of round 3.

4. I know what I want to go into post secondary,  and I even know where I want to apply.  I’m actually one of those kids people are jealous of, because they know what they want to do.  However, there are various details which I would love to sort out, but I’m not going to rush it because I unfortunately know that it’s not going to happen my way.

5. All the potential summer plans I had have seemed to disappear.  I know I won’t stay here the whole time, but I really like knowing where and when I will be here or there, and for how long.  ASAP, please and thanks.

6. I could be the editor of my school newspaper next year.  Even though, I can’t spell to save Henrik Sedin’s life!

7. I met Steve Nash at a Whitecaps game, and then he was at the same Canucks game that I was at.  So convinced he is following me around.

8. Twitter has become my friend once again.

9. I’m absolutely obsessed with photography.  So in love with it, I think I will even seriously consider associating my career with it.

10. I have some of the most amazing friends in the universe.  This seems like a slightly obscure thing to be surprised about, but I’ve just sat down to think about it.  I’ve recently realized every single one of my good friends is so unique and special, and I would never trade them for anything in this world.  I mean it.

Life is crazy.  I think my list is complete enough for the time being.

So yesterday I realized some pretty important stuff.

1) I need to figure out where I’m going to be after next year.  Like, SOON.  It’s pretty crazy to think I’m actually going to be graduating in less than two years.  I feel really old.  For a Senior Planning assignment I took a ‘Career Matchmaker’ quiz (with 161 questions, to be exact) and the answers were fairly insightful.  I’m quite sure I want to study Journalism post secondary.  (UC Berekly has this pretty awesome Journalism grad school…not to far from home, pretty cool looking campus with a siiikkk MSA, and hello, Cali-Forniii-YAY!  Slightly in love with that citrus state. defs be looking into it.) The career suggestions from http://www.careercruising.com/MatchMaker/ pleasantly surprised me, with a good number falling beneath the Media and Publishing sector.  Really liked being somewhat reassured my thought’s at the moment aren’t completely off track.  Got slightly carried away and even tried a practice SAT, which wasn’t too bad at all! Next step shall be yapping ze future plans (imagine the French accent sil vous plait) avec ze parents

2) I miss blogging. Hence, this post. I watched “Julie & Julia” last night with the famjam.  It’s an adorable movie based on a true story about a woman who finds her true passion in cooking, and blogs about cooking her way through Julia Child’s cookbook.  Good movie for anyone who loves food as much as your truly. This is going to sound super cheese whizzy, but Julie, the main character seemed so happy, and I thought to myself, “you used to be JUST like her. why on earth did you stop?”  And, long story short, that is one of the reasons why I’m back on here, and will keep blogging about random stuff, until my nerdy friends advance technology some more, and the Internet becomes outdated and overrated.  Or something like that.

3) Blog posts don’t need to be super long.  (I knew this, but just needed to drill in back into the good, but getting old, melon.)

for a moment i’m going to pretend a whole lot of people (besides my dad) read my blog

so incase anyone noticed, i changed my tagline from “Just another weblog featuring Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Games” to “Just another blog featuring Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Games and now other extremely important things” because though the Olympic Games will always remain close to my heart, and i probably will blog more about them in the future, i’m hoping to expand my site.  Hoping to start writing more about hockey, current events, our amazing planet earth and social responsibility, since they’re all just as interesting as the Games

The “about me” page should also be updated asap.  it sounds a little funny right now.  and look out for more posts to come!

Jany-Eve Saucier, is not only cool because she’s his girlfriend, and all that, but as her own individual person.  I just thought I would throw in hear that, not only has she visited my sight before and commented (which almost gave me a heart attack…in a good way), but she has also (indirectly) contributed to the number of hits my site has received (all most 200 people have found my blog while using her name as a search term).  Anyhow, though many know of her, not too many people know a whole lot about her, mostly because she’s not a huge fan of interviews.  I’m glad reporters seem to respect that, however she did one interview with “La Semaine,” which is like the French-Canadian version of “People” magazine.  If you parler français, I’ve posted a link to the original article at the bottom of this post, however, if you’re slightly challenged with Canada’s second official language, like myself, I’ve summarized it in the few points below:

• She arrived in Vancouver the day before the winter games, so she could attend the opening ceremonies, and left on the 16^th because she needed to go back to Montréal and study for upcoming exams.
• Currently, she’s working on her Bachelor of Business Administration. AND she models on the side. Check out some gorgeous pictures from the article!
• Even though her father and boyfriend are great coaches, she’s not the most athletically talented. (kind of like myself..haha)
• Before his competition they only sent a few texts to each other because he was trying really hard to concentrate.  After his victory, with the rest of the emotional Bilodeau family, Jany-Eve got to go congratulate her boyfriend and tell him how proud she was, and that she loved him. (awwwhh…so cute!) To that, Alexandre replied “Me too! Happy Valentines Day,” in French of course, and gave her the bouquet of flowers he received in the ceremony with the other medalists.
• They didn’t get to see each other much until later the next day.

Their relationship:

• Alex and Jany-Eve have known each other for about a year, and been seeing each other for about half that time.
• They were introduced through her close cousin.
• She’s two years younger and never thought she would be able to keep up with the fast-paced life of an athlete.
• Hopefully will be going on a cruise sometime in the end of May.
• His discipline and determinedness helps out with her studies. She said he’s a good influence on her that way.
• They like watching hockey (yes! The worlds best sport, hands down. No, I am not biased! It’s true.)
• Their favourite restaurant is the Thai Express.

About Alex:

• He’s easy going, and it makes them compatible.
• Simple, intelligent, determined and mature.
• Trains with his personal trainer back in Montréal, early in the mornings everyday, and pays close attention to his diet. (they don’t always eat the same things)
• Besides winning, the medal ceremony was his best Vancouver 2010 experience. (yeah he doesn’t know I left the zip-line line up after 6 hours to see it, but I’m glad did, and was a [small] part of that second best memory)

I find posting this quite embarrassing since it’s been ages since I started working on it and school and other things have gotten way in the way. On the plus side, maybe this will be a way to reopen the floodgates of marvelous Olympic memories.  I miss you winter games <3

Article from La Semaine – Jany-Eve Saucier

All I can say, with my head hanging in embarrassment, is that things happen.  I know, the worlds saddest excuse, but hey, back in the day (aka Feb 2O1O) I had a bunch of things thrown aside (namely school).

But I’m back, and this time, i’ll TRY my best to stay.  So lets begin with a quick update.  I forgot to post some pics of our Mens Curling gold medalists.  I’ll never forget the face of one of the security guards we were chatting with, as he said with a bit of a chuckle, “I’ve never seen such young curling fans!”  Yeah, it wasn’t the most eloquent of speaches or anything, but I found it funny.  Yo, curling is so sick. (unfortunately, I actually talk like that.)

So, Czech ‘em out! (I really, reeaaally, couldn’t resist.  even though it makes no sense. they are Canadian. oh well.)

The Paralympics blew us all away.  I’m surprised we aren’t in Alberta right now.  But why am I saying this? You all knew that.  It’s the guilty conscience.  Opening Ceremonies were something else.

Aha, look’s like Jasey-Jay Anderson and I aren’t the only bosses.  We all know snowboarders are beyond cool but I think even the premier was turning a little green.  With envy of course.

So don’t think I’m running away to live in a cave in the Alps, where I may snowboard all day till I’m 18 then come back to win it for you guys (hah-as if!) because next post (hopefully up soon!) is something I’ve promised myself and someone quite special, so you don’t wanna miss it.  Then I’ll move into my cave.  If they even have caves in the Alps.

1:30am – omg, I have to be downtown in less then 6 hours for CTV interview. Should sleep soon.

5:00am – AHHH! Woke up LATE! Better hurry up or else will miss interview thing with Rena Heer. (thanks Jasmine for setting it up!)

6:05am – Where is everyone? Oh ok, meeting spot’s changed.  Wow downtown looks so empty. People are lining up for the zipline!! Maybe I should too….

6 :30am – Finally ready to go on air.  Live. Oh my.  Call mom and tell her to watch.

6:40am  – So it’s done.  Now what?  See (most of) you guys later…lets go chill at McDonalds.

7:00am – McDonalds worker recognizes us from TV. Wow, people were actually watching us!!!

8:00am – Audrey is the best. We are getting into the BC Media Centre (BCMC) early today!

9:10am – I see the gold medalists of the Men’s Long Track Speed Skating team! Too cool.

9:45am – Jacey Jay Anderson is here! Did you know he retired and became a blueberry farmer?

10:20am – Interviewing Sophie Lui! (filming Tanya asking the questions…)

11:00am – I can’t believe we actually get to see the curling team!!! Yes, I like curling ok.  It’s cool.  And I want a picture or an autograph.

11:45am – So the curlers are VIPs and had to go to the hockey game.  So there is no informal interview stuff.  At least I saw them.  They were super cool. And, I have pictures of them all to prove it! Now, let’s watch the game!

12:00pm – We are screenless.  Had to leave BCMC due to minor complications.  Huge lines everywhere.

12:15pm – at the Sony Store in Pacific Centre! Surprisingly not busy, and staff is pretty chill and cool with us all being there.  Haha, the man from the store keeps getting the volume turned up!

4:30pm – WOW. I love Canada.  Like seriously.  And it’s not the usual, “we stand on guard for thee,” feeling.  It’s an emotion, so intense, it’s kind of like, “whoa, look at these people; they are all so nice, and happy, and excited, and proud, and free, and like, multicultural, and no one cares who you are, they want to give you a high-5, just because you are Canadian.  I know you know, but that was an intense game.  And the US of A, they were amazing competition.  Sid the kid deserves props for the goal and the city deserves credit for the most amazing celebration of an Olympic ice hockey game, ever, (I think).   After the game, the streets were FLOODED with people.  My usual 2-minute walk from Robson Square to the skytrain station took about half an hour.  (By the way, I believe Vancouver is the only place where a type of transit, called a SKYtrain, goes underground…)  Hockey is our game and there is no question about it.

That night, I watched part of the closing, (like I mentioned above) and there were a few tears in my eyes.  I must admit, my head was somewhere else, with all the excitement of the day, and it really didn’t feel like the games were actually over.  I’m still having difficulty accepting that.  I am not in denial!  Now I have a few photos and videos to share however it’s taken way to long for this post (due to lovely school work.  so please just hang in there and I’ll have them up ASAP!)

And Bryan Adams should sing about the February of ’10.  I think it’s pretty note worthy.

First of all, they all seemed very close to each other, as they all train as a team in Montreal.  You could just see from the way they looked at each other during the conference; joking around like a bunch of teenagers, while keeping it as cool as  possible in front of the press.  There were lots of smiles and chuckles from this happy-go-lucky group of medalists.

Also, along with their matching hoodies, medals and dark jeans, these guys had some pretty cool accessories! The Hamelin brothers were rocking some pretty fierce red Nikes, and yes, they matched.

And Francois Hamelin had a pair of crazy Oakleys, which I really liked.

In this clip, the coach talks about the team aspect of the group, since they often train individually.  Also, with two gold’s around his neck, Charles Hamelin answers a few personal questions about his girlfriend, hobbies and fellow skater and competitor, USA’s Apolo Ohno.

I was in line to ask a question about the controversial officiating during the short track events. Another reporter asked the question so I recorded the answer and got some french Qs at the end.  You do not know how much I wish I was bilingual.  I’m going to try really hard to improve in French 11. And 12.

Another question that was asked was about peoples expectations.  Tremblay said that people had expected them to win and they had a slow start.  Anyhow, that’s not so important since they’ve definitely redeemed themselves!  One of the Hamelin’s commented on how it feels great to be apart of the special group that’s brought Canada to the top of the gold medal count.  A very lively reporter, whom I recognized from the session with Maëlle Ricker, asked an interesting question.  The entertained skaters were asked about the effect of their team mate, Olivier Jean’s unique taste in music.  Here’s what they said:

In the end, these guys were on a really tight schedule and didn’t have time for scrums.  However, Veronika, a fortunate, french speaking, paralympic reporter nabbed a quick pic with Guillaume Bastille:

I think the coolest part of the entire thing was a few hour later, when the Canadian Men won the gold for the long track team pursuit, and from a TV screen at the Media centre, I see Charles Hamelin celebrating.  At the Richmond Olympic Oval.  Then I had a flash back to the night before.  I was at my grandma’s house.  I saw Hamelin race in the 500m finals.  I saw him getting his medal and celebrating on TV.  And this morning I saw him, live, in person at the media centre.  Now tell me that’s not way too cool.
